GT offers off-the-shelf products like controllers and DOD inkjets with their consumables, including a refurbish program for the inkjets. All sold through OEMs and resellers.
However, GT offers the expertise any high-technology company needs to develop new machines and processes that involve product tracking, printing, customer databases, and process knowledge and minutiae that makes or breaks projects.
Controller
The GT-MIC (Multi-purpose Inkjet Controller) is a real-time, very compact PC-based control system designed for inkjet-imaging and personalization in the graphical and mailing industry. The multi-lingual MIC drives inkjets of virtually any manufacturer, prints top sheets on-line, enables selective gathering, and provides routing control for most production line and paper-ware transport equipment. Furthermore, it enables read-and-print and print-and-verify productions by using cameras and barcode readers.
Inkjet
The actual GT-Jets are industrial DOD (Drop-On-Demand) inkjets that deliver high quality printing. They are based on Spectra jetting assemblies characterized by fast drop rate, high resolution and probably the most reliable technology. The used ink depends on the substrate and can be UV, solvent and oil-based. GT also sells hp heads.
The GT-Jet runs on proprietary hardware developed entirely by GT, the software language used is mainly C. Thus, any reasonable change can be done in-house which becomes very important when market requirements call for an upgrade.
Software and Hardware Development
It is noticeable that all binary inkjets (because all binary are digital for that matter: drop or no drop) from the same company have different electronics and software that run them. Probably, the reason is that the different products come from companies acquired and no time has been spent in finding the common thread.
Strategic insight: An inkjet company would achieve tremendous efficiencies if it could use the same platform (hardware and software) to run different inkjets or printing devices.
GT can deliver this platform and is in the position to develop hardware and software solutions needed in the industries that use digital printing and want to achieve manufacturing efficiencies.
